ChirpX is a rocket launching facility that was added in Patch 1.9.2 on 09 March 2018, along with the Official Mars Radio and a new "Chirper Hat". It was released as a free gift to all players a day before (due to March 10th falling on a weekend) the 3rd Anniversary of the release of Cities Skylines. It also promoted the new game "Surviving Mars", which was released on 15 March 2018. ChirpX may be a reference to Space Exploration Technologies Corp., also known as SpaceX.
Happy Chirpday! Three years of Cities: Skylines and over five million city builders!

- Surviving Mars radio station
- Surviving Mars Chirpy
The ChirpX Launch Site requires a large amount of space (36×48) and a road in order to be placed. Like most buildings, it also needs water and electricity to operate. It requires deliveries from ore trucks during the "Rocket Construction" phase, and oil truck deliveries during the "Launch Preparation" phase. After the construction phase is completed, the doors open and the rocket moves from the vehicle assembly building out to the launch pad. This is when the number of visitors tends to increase dramatically, in anticipation of the launch. When the preparation phase is completed, the player is able to press a "Launch Rocket" button to send the rocket to space. After the launch, the transporter returns to the assembly building and the doors close. Despite the name being a reference to SpaceX, the launch vehicle does not resemble the Falcon 9, their workhorse launcher. Instead, the rocket design is based on NASA's iconic Saturn V rocket, famously used during the Apollo Program.
The info panel for the ChirpX Launch Site displays:
- Current number of visitors
- Progress indicator
- Rocket name
- Information about previous launches (if any)
The panel also includes a "Launch Rocket" button, as well as the ability to rename the rocket and change the color of the accents on the rocket. Like other Unique Buildings, the panel has buttons for On/Off, move building, etc.
