Downloadable content (DLC) is content built by Colossal Order (CO) as an extension or add-on to Cities: Skylines.

  • Extensive local traffic simulation: Fully fleshed out and well-crafted transport systems.
  • Districts and Policies: Designating parts of the city as districts allows application of different policies to run them.
  • Day and Night Cycle: The city changes during the day and affects citizen schedules. Manage the different aspects of the day and night cycles.
  • Extensive modding support: Build or improve on existing maps and structures and share your creations with other city builders on the Steam workshop.

Expansions[edit]

Expansions change the game considerably; introducing new and improved gameplay mechanics as well as many kinds of flavor and various balance tweaks (included in the accompanying free patch).

  • Leisure specialization: Commercial areas can specialize in leisure activities; working regularly during the day, but especially active during the night.
  • Tourism specialization: Commercial areas on the shoreline can specialize in beach activities.
  • Expanded City Services:
    • Criminals will now be taken to Prison from Police buildings.
    • Cargo hubs are harbors that accept cargo trains straight to the terminal.
    • International airport is a huge airport, allowing much more traffic than the previous airport and has a metro station attached to it.
    • Bus terminal allows citizens to transfer to other bus lines in the terminal building.
  • New transportation options:
    • Bikes and dedicated bike lanes and bike ways let citizens opt for a faster alternative to walking.
    • Bus lanes can be used to help the public transportation run smoother.
    • Taxi service will help citizens and tourists travel around the city.

  • Now is the Winter of This Content: A new "Winter" map theme with snow and all of its challenges.
  • The Streetcars You Desire: Expanded public transportation options, including easier management of existing lines – and Trams.
  • World Warmth, Too: Cold weather increases demands for electricity, unless new water-based heat systems are in place.
  • Plowers to the People: Build a snowplow depot to keep traffic flowing during winter weather, and employ new road maintenance systems to keep your streets in shape.

  • Deep, Impactful Gameplay: Keep your city going through the devastation of several possible doomsday scenarios, from towering infernos to the day the sky exploded.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Response Abilities: Plan for, and respond to, disasters using early warning systems, countermeasures, and new disaster responses such as helicopters and evacuations – finally, a Paradox game where “Comet Sighted” actually means something.
  • Radio Saved the Video Game: Citizens can go Radio Ga-Ga with a new broadcast network, helping to rapidly spread evacuation warnings and emergency alerts – or simply relax to new in-game music stations.
  • An Objectively Good Feature: Scenario Mode allows players to design custom game objectives, including custom starting cities, win conditions, time limits, and more – and share scenarios to Steam Workshop.
  • Chirpocalypse Now: Heck yeah, new hats for Chirper.

  • Sick Transit, Glorious Money: New transit options that can also increase the city's income - get across town in ferries, blimps, cable cars, and monorails!
  • Orderly Hub, Bub: New mass transit hubs can bring all of your services together, letting citizens change rail lines in one building, or hop from the bus onto the ferry, or even find their way through a sprawling monorail-train-metro station.
  • Become a Roads Scholar: Explore a set of new challenge scenarios focused on fixing traffic problems and adding new transit systems. New road types, bridges and canals adds variety to your city, and new ways to solve its challenges. Become an expert in traffic flow, and then use that knowledge to improve your personal city!
  • New Hats for Chirper: NEW. HATS. FOR CHIRPER. (and also new unique buildings, policies and achievements. But HATS!)

  • Parks and Recreation - Use the new park area tool to create park districts wherever there is empty land, and new city services like Park Maintenance, which boosts happiness and effectiveness and helps level up parks.
  • Brick By Brick - Customize your city with new buildings and assets, including a new sightseeing bus line, new service buildings, new unique buildings like amusement parks, nature reserves, city parks and zoos, and a regal new monument, the Castle of Lord Chirpwick.
  • Freeway Free For All - For the first time in Cities: Skylines, you can place buildings next to paths in the park districts (not just next to roads). Props can be placed anywhere inside park areas.
  • Recesses Between Buildings - Transform those empty spaces between your buildings into vibrant parks and gardens.
  • It's A Walk In The Park - Customize routes and set ticket prices for new walking and sightseeing tours, among other tourism enhancements.
  • Policies, Please - Take on three new city policies and eight new park policies to deal with recreational hazards like Animal Ethics and Fireworks.

  • Make It Happen - Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
  • Captain Your Own Industries - Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.
  • Build It Up, Buttercup - New industrial buildings include Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings, Industrial Props and Roads. Unique Factories, such as Food, Toy, Furniture, Car and Electronics produce luxury products, and require a large number of workers, water and electricity as well as input from your industries.
  • Ship It - Manage traffic and logistics with industrial warehouses and the use of the new Cargo Services including a cargo airport.
  • Go Postal - Boost your citizens’ well-being with mail delivery and collection services. Post sorting facilities handle mail between outside connections and the post offices, and new Post Van and Truck vehicles enable the carriage.
  • Work Hard - Three new Industry Policies and four City-wide Policies, including Workers’ Union, Sorting, Tolls, Wi-Fi, Logistics, Work Safety and Automation.
  • Five New Maps - Rich in natural resources, transportation options and industrial opportunities, these new maps have all the right stuff.
