The main directory you will need for creating mods is located in local app data.
This is where you create all your modifications to the game.

  • Windows %LOCALAPPDATA%\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Mods
  • Mac /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Addons/Mods
  • Linux /home/<username>/.local/share/Colossal Order/Cities_Skylines/Addons/Mods

Other Folders & Files[edit | edit source]

<%STEAM%> is the path to your Steam library.

Default Mods[edit | edit source]

<%STEAM%>\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Files\Mods
This folder contains the default mods that are shipped with the game along with the source code.
You should look into the source of the shipped mods and see how they are implemented.

Assemblies[edit | edit source]

<%STEAM%>\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\Managed
This folder contains all the assemblies you can use for developing mods.

Installed Mods[edit | edit source]

<%STEAM%>\steamapps\workshop\content\255710
This folder has a bunch of folders for each asset/mod you've subscribed to.
TIP Search for .dll to find all installed mods.

output_log.txt[edit | edit source]

<%STEAM%>\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt
This is where you can find the output_log.txt which displays all the console output from Unity/CS.
