Available only with the Plazas and Promenades DLC enabled. |
Pedestrian Areas are a type of area added in the Plazas and Promenades DLC. These areas allow for buildings to be placed on pedestrian streets, provided both cargo and garbage are taken care of using service points.
Pedestrian Area Brushes[edit | edit source]
There are two brushes in the first tab of the Districts and Areas panel for pedestrian areas:
The Paint Pedestrian Area brush can be used to create and reshape pedestrian areas.
The Erase Pedestrian Area brush can be used to erase and reshape pedestrian areas.
Pedestrian areas have a maintenance cost per cell.
Info Panel[edit | edit source]
Clicking on the name of the pedestrian area will open its info panel. The pedestrian area info panel is divided into three tabs:
- The Info tab shows statistics involving the selected pedestrian area. These statistics include the zone focus, the area’s average happiness, service point usage, and the area’s population.
- The Policies tab allows for special policies to be applied to the selected pedestrian area.
- The Unlocking tab shows the progress made towards unlocking pedestrian area-related buildings, such as landmarks and plazas.
Service Points[edit | edit source]
Service points are required to build a successful Pedestrian Area. The Small Pedestrian Area Service Point is unlocked when a Pedestrian Area is created in a city for the first time. Larger service points, as well as ones for cargo or garbage only, are unlocked when certain criteria involving the usage of Service Points are met. Service Points can be found under the Pedestrian Areas tab in the Parks and Plazas panel.
Plazas[edit | edit source]
There are a variety of pedestrian area plazas, some of which are unlocked when certain criteria involving pedestrian areas are met. These plazas are not limited to pedestrian areas, so they can be placed anywhere in a city.
Zone focus[edit | edit source]
Pedestrian areas have a zone focus, which is determined by the amount of different zones in the pedestrian area. This is used to unlock some of the pedestrian area landmarks, which are a class of unique buildings. The zone focus, as well as the amount of residential-, commercial-, and workplace (office and industrial)-zoned squares can be viewed in the pedestrian area’s info panel.
Entertainment[edit | edit source]
Pedestrian areas have an entertainment value, which is used to calculate the land value bonus.
Land value bonus[edit | edit source]
A pedestrian area’s happiness and entertainment values are used to calculate a land value bonus, which boosts the land value within the pedestrian area.
