Areas with fish resources are determined automatically based on the water available, and thus does not require special maps. Fish type is determined by the depth and flow of water, and Sunset Harbor features 4 types of fish, all of which prefer different conditions. Anchovies thrive in still, shallow waters, salmon prefer shallow water with a flow, shellfish require deep and still waters, and tuna need deep, flowing water. This means one single map might not always have the required conditions for all types of fish. The player is able to use the terraforming tools on rivers and lakes, and the changes made can alter the types of fish in the water.
Fishing Industry buildings
Fishing buildings are all found on the Fishing Industry tab in the Garbage and Industry menu.
The Fishing Industry, Fishing Harbor and the Fishing Market are unlocked at the third milestone (Tiny Town), the Fish Factory unlocks at the fourth milestone (Boom Town), and the Fish Farm unlocks at the fifth milestone (Busy Town). The remaining buildings are unlocked by reaching production quantities.
Fishing Industry Supply Chain
All fish farms and fishing harbors produce one product, Fish Resource, no matter what type of seafood is farmed or caught. This fish resource may be exported, shipped to a Fish Market where it is sold directly to consumers, or processed in a Fish Factory producing goods that may be exported or sold in a commercial zone. If there are no markets or factories, the fish resource will simply be exported.
Each 1,000 units/ton of fish resource sells for ₡60 when exported while each ton of commercial goods sell for ₡150 when exported or sold to shops. Building the School of Science in a University Campus will increase the income gained from fishing industry.
Note: There may be a bug where commercial goods sent to warehouses will not be counted as sold even when exported or sold to shops, causing players to lose income.
While the fish resource can be exported, it cannot be imported.
Water pollution affects fish yields in the polluted area. With boats, the catch rate decreases as water pollution increases, until finally they stop catching fish entirely. You need to either remove the pollution from the water or plot new fishing routes that circumvent the polluted waters. With fish farms, cultivation stops immediately if any pollution is present.
